Get Online SA - How It Works

After you sign-up for one one of our online marketing services we will connect with you within 24 hours to arrange your first consultation with one of our GetOnlineSa.com professional digital marketers.

This is when our engagement with you and your business starts and when we begin to implement our proprietary project management methodology.

Our Approach

GET ONLINE SA uses scrum development principles.

What Is Scrum

Scrum is the framework by which features of a website are aligned directly with business value e.g. FEATURE: a content management system (CMS) = BUSINESS VALUE: enables the rapid publication of news and information relevant to your business / brand.

How Does It Work – High Level Overview

Instead of providing complete, detailed descriptions of how everything is to be done on the project, a sprint planning meeting takes place to describe desired outcomes for the brands website – this results in a commitment to set of features to be developed in what is a called a “sprint” instead of a set of Entry criteria, Task definitions, Validation criteria, and Exit criteria (ETVX) as would be provided in most methodologies.

SCRUM In 100 Words

Scrum is an agile process that allows Get Online SA to focus on delivering the highest business value in the shortest possible time.
It allows us as a team to rapidly and repeatedly inspect actual working website features.
The business / client sets the priorities. The Get Online SA development team then self-organises to determine the best way to deliver the highest priority features.
Every week anyone can see real working website features and decide to release it as is or continue to enhance it for another sprint.

Your Role As Product Owner

• Define the features of the product
• Decide on release date and content
• Be responsible for the profitability of the product (ROI)
• Prioritize features according to business / market value
• Adjust features and priority every iteration, as needed
• Accept or reject work results

The Get Online SA SCRUM Captain

• Represents management of the project
• Responsible for enacting Scrum values and practices
• Ensures that functional requirements / website features are aligned with strategic business value
• Enable close cooperation across all roles and functions
• Shields the development team from external interferences

Management Approach

Our project management approach consists of 5 phases which are outlined below. Our in-house methodology ensures that any project we undertake will  see a return on investment (ROI) for our clients.

Phase 1 – Site Planning

As part of this effort, we address the content and structural layout of the site. We produce a sitemap and decide on the site’s navigational structure, giving careful consideration to the navigational flow and the key user paths through the site. At page level, we create detailed information architecture (IA) wireframes to illustrate the structure and layout, and test these against user cases.

A content plan is then defined, outlining the content required on a page-by-page basis, and a schedule for delivery from you. If applicable, SEO research is undertaken to maximise the site’s natural search placement in the search engines. The results of which, are fed back into the sitemap, IA specification and content plan prior to your review.

All deliverables at this stage will require your approval, and any alterations are incorporated into the design process then re-presented for your sign-off.

Phase 2 – Design

Concept designs are created for the key pages within the site. These are presented to you for feedback, until such time as the design is approved.

Once you have approved the design, we will start to build the HTML templates and graphical assets that will be used in the site.

Phase 3 – Build & Test

Once we have the HTML Templates, we will move into the development phase of the project. This process will involve us setting up the ProStore platform to incorporate your designs and agreed functionality.

During this production phase, the site will be hosted on our development server for you to review. At each milestone we will ask you to review the development and provide comments. All requested alterations are incorporated into the site, and once the production phase is complete, we will require your approval before we begin full testing.

Once production is complete we will undertake rigorous user acceptance testing (UAT) and a strict quality assurance process, checking the site for usability issues, technical issues, performance and appearance. We ask at this stage that the client participates in the UAT process. This allows for direct feedback and the ability to quickly make changes prior to site launch.

On completion of full site testing, we will require your sign-off before full site launch.

Phase 4 – Launch

Now we are ready to launch your new site. We will manage the process of moving the site from the development environment onto the live hosting environment. Once live, we will then make the initial Search Engine submissions to ensure your site is indexed as soon as possible.

Following the launch, we will provide all the necessary training and documentation, including everything from design and tone guidelines to application manuals, to allow you to manage your site successfully.

Phase 5 – Marketing And Maintaining The Site

At the beginning of the project specific goals and objectives are identified. Now that the project is completed and launched, this is a perfect time to review the project as a whole and to begin an extensive marketing program including Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), PPC campaigns and email marketing. This is the stage where the Get Online SA marketing team can take over and initiate their abilities to drive traffic to the site and revenue from it.

Determining the site’s success depends on getting both quantitative and qualitative feedback on the site. This could include a plan to get direct internal user feedback, customer/visitor feedback, site logs and visitor analytics data.
